PracticePanther Review 2026
Value-focused practice management with strong time tracking and billing
ReviewLake Score
Best for: Small to mid-size firms prioritizing time tracking, billing accuracy, and value for cost
Our quick verdict
Buy it if
You're a small general-practice firm doing straightforward hourly billing and want native eSignature, texting, and billing bundled into one flat-priced platform without stacking subscriptions.
Think twice if
You need fast, reliable support - this is the most consistent complaint theme across G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot alike - or you rely heavily on mobile access in the field.
Biggest strength: Exceptional time-tracking depth, which directly supports maximizing billable hours
Biggest weakness: Full trust/operating accounting (PantherAccounting Plus, launched April 2026) is only on the top Business Pro tier - lower tiers get lighter reconciliation only

Genuinely strong ease of use and value for straightforward small-firm billing, newly credible on trust accounting since April 2026 - but held back by consistent, cross-platform support complaints.
Pricing
Pricing model
Published on practicepanther.comPublished tiers starting around $49/month per user, generally considered the best quality-for-cost option among the major platforms; also offers a free-for-life Solo plan limited to 3 clients and 3 cases, per PracticePanther's own help center
The $49/user/month figure you'll see most often is the annual-billed rate for the Solo tier - monthly billing runs $59. Native eSignature and 2-way texting are bundled at no extra cost from the Business tier ($89-99) up, and full trust/operating accounting (PantherAccounting Plus) is exclusive to the top Business Pro tier ($114-124).

Pricing tiers
Confirmed on practicepanther.com/pricing: Solo $49/user/month (annual) or $59 (monthly), Essential $69/$79, Business $89/$99, Business Pro $114/$124. All tiers include contact/matter management, time tracking, a client portal, unlimited storage, and native payments. Business tier adds native two-way texting and unlimited-send eSignature at no extra line-item cost, plus Zapier and open API access - none of that is available on Solo or Essential. One independent source (LegalTechRanked) claims these features carry separate per-document/per-month fees, which conflicts with PracticePanther's own current, live pricing page - we're treating the vendor's page as the more current, checkable source.
PantherAccounting Plus - a real, recent addition
As of April 7, 2026, PracticePanther launched PantherAccounting Plus, a native trust and operating accounting suite exclusive to the Business Pro tier ($114-124/user/month): full IOLTA/trust ledger, co-mingling prevention, guided three-way reconciliation, a customizable chart of accounts, and Plaid bank feeds. This is genuinely new - PracticePanther didn't have full native accounting before this. A lighter reconciliation feature is described as available more broadly by at least one independent reviewer, but the full suite is Business Pro-exclusive.
Integrations & mobile app
GetApp and Software Advice both cite roughly 26-27 total integrations (QuickBooks Online, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive/Docs, Gmail, Outlook, Microsoft 365, Zapier, PantherPayments, and others), with API/Zapier access gated to Business tier and above. One Trustpilot reviewer called the public API "the worst...not been updated in 10 years" - a specific, if unverifiable, complaint. Mobile app quality is mediocre: 3.7/5 on the Apple App Store (58 ratings) and 3.2/5 on Google Play (9 reviews), both meaningfully below the desktop platform's 4.3-4.7/5 review-site scores, and multiple G2 reviewers separately describe the app as limited compared to desktop.
Ownership - a correction worth knowing
PracticePanther is not owned by AppFolio - we found zero evidence connecting the two companies anywhere. The real ownership chain: PracticePanther was founded in 2012 (originally launched as "PayPanther," a CRM), acquired by Alpine Investors in 2018, folded into Alpine's "ASG LegalTech" group alongside Bill4Time and MerusCase, and rebranded as Paradigm in January 2021. In October 2021, Paradigm received a strategic growth investment from private equity firm Francisco Partners. PracticePanther is one of several practice-management brands under Paradigm today.

Pros & Cons
What we like
- Exceptional time-tracking depth, which directly supports maximizing billable hours
- Native eSignature and two-way texting reduce the need for extra subscriptions
- Considered one of the best value options without hidden add-on costs
What to watch
- Fewer integrations than Clio's broader ecosystem (roughly 26-27 named integrations)
- Full trust/operating accounting (PantherAccounting Plus, launched April 2026) is only on the top Business Pro tier - lower tiers get lighter reconciliation only
- API and Zapier access is limited to Business tier and above
Who is PracticePanther for?
Ideal for
- Small general-practice firms doing straightforward hourly billing
- Firms wanting native eSignature and texting bundled without extra subscriptions
- Firms comfortable with a browser-first workflow rather than heavy mobile use
Not ideal for
- Plaintiff/contingency-fee firms - no contingency accounting or litigation-specific workflows
- Firms with complex, multi-attorney production-based compensation or billing needs
- Firms needing especially fast, responsive support
PracticePanther positions itself squarely on value - strong time-tracking and billing depth, native eSignature, and two-way texting, all without the add-on costs that push up the effective price of some competitors. It’s a natural shortlist candidate alongside MyCase for solo and small firms, with a slight edge for firms whose top priority is billing accuracy and maximizing billable hours specifically.
